Wise School Swim Courses

Parent / Tot

Ages 6 mos. – 3 years of age 

30 Minute lesson    or    45 Minute class

This interactive group class provides an opportunity for parent and child to experience basic water safety fundamentals and body mechanics, while discovering their newfound love of the water. This class has a lightly structured format using songs, games and toys to enhance learning and interest in the water. It creates a wonderful opportunity for social interaction as well as bonding with your child. Progression is at your own pace.  Parent need not know how to swim.

Student: Teacher ratio is 4:1 (Private lessons also available.)

Sea Horses, Our Young Beginner Group

Ages 3 – 4 years

30 Minute lesson 

This class is an introduction to the Dolphin curriculum that is presented at an age appropriate manner.  The course outline includes maintaining placement of the face in the water, supported floating on the back front, introduction to buoyancy, blowing bubbles, alternating arm movements, basic flutter-kick motions on and off the kick board, entering and exiting the pool unassisted, and basic entry into the pool.

Student: Teacher Ratio 3:1 or Semi-private/private

Dolphins 1  is ages 4-6

Dolphin 2 is ages 7 & up

Ages 4 and up 

30 Minute lesson  

Through our gentle approach, students will acquire the basic skills needed to survive in any body of water. Treading, floating, attaining buoyancy, climbing in and out of the water and an introduction to the basic strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and when appropriate, butterfly). Diving and basic jumps will be introduced in deep water pools only. Classes grouped by age and ability.

Seals

This level is expected to be able to swim the width of pool independently with a minimum 2 breaths

Ages 5 and older

30 Minute lesson 

This class mirrors the Dolphin curriculum however; front and back flutter kicks are incorporated with and without assistance, however all aspects of the curriculum are taken to the next progressive step. The curriculum covers an introduction to flip turns, racing starts, diving entries, plus a focus on building their strength and endurance and fine tuning of breathing techniques.

Sharks

This level swimmer is expected to be able to swim the length of the pool independently with a minimum of 4 side breaths.

Ages 5 and older

30 Minute lesson  

Lessons designed to give students a more focused swimming experience. This program is for the students who have mastered the basic survival skills and provides children with the benefits of socialization and peer interaction while continuing to develop and master all strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breast-stroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly) and will introduce basic diving, flip turns, basic jumps, under water strokes, as well as balance and breathing techniques. Classes grouped by age and ability.

Program is coached by Head Coach Treci Horowitz, Assistant Coach Meg and Assistant Coach Jose

This class focuses on form development and enhancement, endurance, basic flip turns and diving from decks as well as introduction to the start block.  All water safety skills will be incorporated through water activities such as Wally (water) ball, tandem relays and so much more. This class is a great way for your young teenager to use the water for a fun healthy way to stay fit while continuing to enhance and improve their swim skill level. For students who are looking to compete this class will also offer swim team preparation skills. This course is offered for once, twice, or three times a week. Price is based on frequency.

Private Classes

30, 45 and 60 (Adult) minute lessons

One on One lessons will afford you the opportunity and the privacy needed to improve skills, technique and endurance while becoming a more confident & healthy swimmer. This  program is  Treci’s pride and joy. You might call it her “baby”. She is our Founder and Owner and Treci has spent much of her life mastering  her own education to fully captivate and  understand the needs of  her clients. She is Brain Gym certified as well as holds a Masters of Education in Adaptive Physical Education. As a retired LA County Lifeguard Captain she fully understands the emergent need of becoming partners with the water. Working with and not against can and will save lives.  We know that each person learns differently and at their own pace. Ms. Horowitz presents water safety in a way that makes one feel not only physically safe but emotionally safe.

Lessons will improve technique and endurance while becoming a more confident & healthy swimmer.

Adult Aquatic Fitness over 40

Tuesday and Thursday 7:00am-8:00am and 12:00pm-1:00pm

$40 per class.

Classes are taught rain or shine.

Our low-impact water exercise/Yoga classes are a fun way to use the resistance and buoyancy of water to condition your muscles and improve your cardiovascular fitness, strength, and flexibility. By employing strengthening exercises and stretching techniques, these low-impact water aerobics classes help to increase your body’s tone posture and range of motion. “You will feel and look great”!

“I have arthritis in both my hips and in one knee; it’s sometimes a little painful to exercise. Since I started working with Aquatic Safety Instruction, I have found that by participating in the water exercise classes, I have much more range of motion in my legs without the pain.”

Water fitness is perfect if you’re looking for an enjoyable, low-impact workout. The therapeutic nature of the warm water is ideal for all fitness levels, including non-swimmers, and anyone recovering from injuries.

If you’re looking to challenge yourself without putting stress on your joints, or just like being in the water, you’ll definitely enjoy our “Over 40” water exercise classes. Our certified instructors enthusiastically lead small groups through water aerobics, core strength training movements, and much more.

Adult Lap swim ages 18+

Monday and Wednesday 7am-8am

$40 per class.

Want a full body, mind and soul workout? Spare your joints and get an impactful cardiovascular workout by lap swimming! The benefits are immense. By alternating your arms and legs simultaneously elevates your heart rate and burns calories without straining your body. And don’t worry: this isn’t a race. Enjoy the relaxing water, swimming at your own pace, as you get healthier with each fluid stroke. Emphasis is put on fine tuning and refining your stroke development, improving body mechanics and breath efficiency.

“I have a routine now before work where I walk to my local health club (1.3 miles and I of course walk back) I head straight to the pool and swim 25, 25 yard laps before the sun has even risen.  My day is started with enthusiasm and I have to say, I have never felt better and healthier. My confidence is soaring! My wife has recently begun to join me. What a great way to start the day.”

All classes are lead by our certified Water Safety Instructional Coaches who are also certified as open water Lifeguards.

Saturday office is not staffed but messages are retrieved through out the day.

 We understand that one may wake in the morning feeling under the weather. We will always do what we can to reschedule your class. Please let us know as soon as you know that you will be unable to attend your swim class.
For weekend same day cancellations please text (818) 674-1860. Make certain to include the name of the student, and time of originally scheduled class
