Class Descriptions

Parent / Tot

Ages 6 mos. – 3 years of age 

This interactive group class provides an opportunity for parents and children to experience basic water safety fundamentals and body mechanics while discovering a newfound love of the water. It creates a wonderful opportunity for social interaction as well as bonding with your child. Progression is at your own pace. Parents need not know how to swim.
Student/Teacher ratio: 4:1

Sea Horses Group

Ages 3 – 4 years

This class is an introduction to the Dolphin curriculum that is presented in an age appropriate manner. The course outline includes maintaining the placement of the face in the water, supported floating on the back front, introduction to buoyancy, blowing bubbles, alternating arm movements, basic flutter kick motions on and off the kickboard, entering and exiting the pool unassisted, and basic entry into the pool.
Student/Teacher ratio: 1:1, 2:1 or semi-private

Dolphins

Ages 4 – 8 years

Through our gentle approach, students will acquire the basic skills needed to survive in any body of water, these include treading, floating, attaining buoyancy, climbing in and out of the water, and an introduction to the basic strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and when appropriate butterfly). Diving and basic jumps will be introduced in deep water pools only.

Seals

Ages 5 and older

This class mirrors the dolphin curriculum however, front and back flutter kicks are incorporated with and without assistance. All aspects of the curriculum are taken to the next progressive step. The curriculum covers an introduction to flip turns, racing starts, diving entries, focus on building their strength and endurance, and fine-tuning of breathing techniques.

Sharks

Ages 5 and older

Lessons are designed to give students a more focused swimming experience. this program is for the students who have mastered the basic survival skills and provides children with the benefits of socialization and peer interaction while continuing to develop and master all strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly). It will introduce basic diving, flip turns, basic jumps, underwater strokes, as well as balance and breathing techniques. Classes are grouped by age and ability.

Tween Program/Swim Team Prep

Ages 11 – 13 and 14 – 16 years

This class focuses on form development and enhancement, endurance, basic flip turns, and diving from the deck as well as introduction to the start block. All water safety skills will be incorporated through water activities such as tandem relays and so much more. This class is a great way for your young teenager to use the water for a fun healthy way to stay fit while continuing to enhance and improve their swim skill level. For students who are looking to compete this class will also offer swim team preparation skills. This class requires twice a week attendance.
Student/Teacher ratio: 5:1 60 minute class

Teen / Adult Instruction

Ages 17 and older

Adult instruction available for all levels and ratios
